Chad Paranto

Chad has been creating art since his early childhood. Coming from a family of artists, his father is a very established artist in the Dakota’s and Montana for the past 50 years. Chad’s cousin has her art in a Museum in South Dakota. In high school Chad’s art was published in a local magazine. Chad opened his first gallery in Oregon in 1998. When Chad moved to Maui in 2009, he met a very successful, talented and inspiring artist named Elan Vital. While Chad and Elan never painted together, Chad worked at Elan’s gallery for a couple years selling Elan’s amazing art. When Elan moved off the island of Maui, Chad wanted to try painting with the special techniques and styles similar that allow the light to be captured by the painting and create intense depth.

Chad loves to create, whether it be carving into a seashell, painting, or traveling around Maui taking photos. His current paintings are made with finely ground minerals and pigments from stones mixed with a high end clear enamel similar to the clear coat for aircraft. The mixture is then applied on either aluminum or canvas between 35-70 layers to create great depth and dimension. His inspiration for these paintings comes from his childhood growing up in the Dakota’s and Montana and Colorado, he was very inspired by stones of all kinds and began to collect stones. This art form allows Chad to re-apply natural ground stones to canvas or aluminum to create a new stone/elemental piece of art for your wall. And with living on Maui, you will find that he is also influenced by the tropical colors of the flowers, sky, ocean and jungle. Each of Chad’s pieces is a true original, there is actually no way to reproduce another if he wanted… truly special pieces.

You can see his newest collections at Maui Fine Art in Kihei. They are something you can add to your collection that is truly original and your friends will say “WOW”… great conversation pieces.
